Frequently Asked Questions

What is the Pilates Reformer?

The Pilates Reformer is a workout machine that is used for super precise, targeted Pilates exercises. It is comprised of a carriage that moves back and forth along a track, connected to springs of varying resistance. Using your bodyweight & the resistance from the springs, exercises on the Reformer lead to increased flexibility, strength,  stamina, and even better posture.

I've done a little bit of mat work but never used the Reformer, is 201 right for me?

Yes! If you’ve only done a little bit of mat work, the 201 class is perfect for you! As long as you have a basic understanding of Pilates principles, you’ll be able to keep up with this series.

Do you need to be very in shape for Pilates Reformer?

No – One of the best things about Pilates Reformer is that it’s accessible to all levels of fitness. The entire philosophy is built around building a strong core, and then progressing outwards. Even if you’ve experienced a knee injury or have back problems, exercises on the Reformer can be easily modified so you can still get the most out of them.

What should I wear?

Tight workout attire is best for Pilates Reformer, like leggings and form fitting tanks. Loose clothing may creep up in many of the Reformer exercises or may be cumbersome on the Reformer apparatus. Form fitting clothing also allows your instructor to assess your alignment & make sure you’re doing each exercise properly.

What are the benefits of Pilates Reformer?

Pilates Reformer is a full body workout. Benefits include:

  • Improved Flexibility
  • Strengthening & Toning of Muscles
  • Increased Core Stability
  • Helps with Injury Prevention & Rehabilitation
  • Improves Sports Performance

Reformer is equally beneficial for men & women, and can be adapted to meet each individual’s needs.
