Ideally, exercise “should” be: 1) challenging, 2) effective, and 3) FUN. And while interval sprints on the treadmill or 20-minute bodyweight circuits can be great for building your engine and improving your aerobic capacity, it can be tricky to keep these activities enjoyable if you’re doing them all the time.

There’s nothing more frustrating than putting in work only to feel like you’re not getting the results you want. Challenging your body with a new type of exercise helps you break through a physical or mental plateau (or both) by giving you a new stimulus.

Even people who say “I can’t dance” can enjoy themselves in a Zumba class. The upbeat tunes, the interesting moves, and the room filled with smiling and laughing people all make for a super fun 50 minutes—we’ll argue, a lot more “fun” than an hour by yourself on a treadmill!
