YOUTHARCATA Youth Fit Camp: Keeping kids busy when school is out can be a challenge. HealthSPORT's Fit Camps are the answer. At our Fit Camps, kids can enjoy a variety of fun and healthy activities including: swimming, basketball, racquetball, soccer, badminton, Yoga, Pilates, cycling, dancing, tumbling, arts and crafts, plus a variety of other activities. We maintain a low counselor-to-camper ratio to ensure that every child gets individual attention. At Fit Camp your child will learn that staying healthy can be fun, interesting and rewarding. That way, staying fit and healthy isn’t just part of their summer; it becomes part of their lives. For more information about any of our Youth Programs, give Rebecca, Youth Programs Director, a call at 822-3488 ext. 363. Youth Classes: ARCATA Extreme Teen Get ready for a KICK-BUTT workout! Add to the fun by bringing a friend! This class will teach you how to safely and effectively use our equipment. You will even learn how to design your own workout. Open to ages 12–16. Mondays and Wednesdays 4:30–5:30 PM. Starts Oct. 20, runs through Nov. 12. Hip Hop/Breakdancing for Kids Dance encourages mental and emotional development, enhances motor skills, increases flexibility and helps develop muscles. Breakdancing gives kids a way to discover how their bodies move while also getting fit and having fun. Hip Hop/Breakdancing class is open to children ages 7-14. Saturdays 4:00 - 5:30 PM with Rex. Karate Kids Karate builds confidence and self-esteem as well as respect, concentration and courtesy. Karate can help improve cardiovascular endurance, flexibility, balance, strength and overall energy. Karate Kids is open to children ages 7-14. Classes are held Mondays and Wednesdays 4:30 - 5:45 PM. Swim Lessons We offer swim lessons for everybody from infants to adults. Through our swimming lessons children learn water safety, improve their stamina, boost coordination and strength and build confidence. For more experienced swimmers, we have classes to teach children how to improve their stroke and posture. Swimming is a great, low-impact, cardio workout. Available Sunday - Saturday. BabySPORT Join BabySPORT and get fit and have fun with your little one (ages 6 months - 36 months). BabySPORT includes BabySPORT Yoga and BabySPORT Swim, two classes for the price of ONE! BabySPORT Yoga – Encourages a sense of calmness, enhances flexibility, coordination and body awareness. Yoga poses are playful and imagination is encouraged. Meets Fridays from 12:00-12:30 PM. BabySPORT Swim – You’ll interact and bond with your child in a fun environment that encourages social interaction with peers. Meets Mondays and Wednesdays from 11:00-11:30 AM. Birthday Parties (Arcata & Fortuna): HealthSPORT offers a healthy, fun space for family parties. Parties can be scheduled for 2—4 hour blocks on Saturdays and Sundays. It develops coordination, flexibility, strength and balance. It is a good basis for all sports including martial arts, swimming, diving and dance. There is a place for everyone in HealthSPORT's gymnastics programs, whether you want to learn a new sport, stay in shape, have special needs or plan to compete.
